In pivot of and redesign of my personal site I am starting to work on making the site more accessible and compatible to more people. Since suffering some health issues over the last few years I have personally come to realize how important it is. While I don’t have to legally comply with the all the new standards for all website it is important that I improve the site as much as I can so more people can have access.

Thursday, May 18, 2023, help us celebrate the 12th Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD)! The purpose of GAAD is to get everyone talking, thinking and learning about digital access and inclusion, and the more than One Billion people with disabilities/impairments.

Coming Soon – WP update to 6.0

When WordPress 5.9 was released, it introduced the innovative Full Site Editing feature. Now, WordPress will launch the second phase of the Gutenberg project: WordPress 6.0.

To prepare for this new update, it’s essential to know what it will include.

As we look ahead to WordPress 6.0, this update will include improvements to the Site Editor. We’ll also see new blocks, patterns, and design tools. Additionally, many of the new features from WordPress 5.9 will have improved functionality, making them easier to use.

Remember – whenever an update moves to the next version and changes the version number it generally means a significant change in the coding. Be sure to make a backup of your site for safe keeping.

Checksheet for Maintain Tasks

I noticed in several Facebook Groups that I follow that a lot of newer Web Developers are asking questions about what to include in the service of maintaining a website for a customer.

When I first started offering web development and maintain site tasks for web customers I developed this check sheet of tasks. I used to use this foundational checklist and had one out for each site I managed.  I would use this list each week, month and year to be sure that I completed each task for each site.  Later on I made it a digital version and added the date to each item.

Sharing a PDF copy of items that should be done on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
Of course it will all depend on the host being used, and the terms of the contract for providing this service to customers.
